I'm a fan of using less mics. Especially for a sim I'm a fan of using less mics. Especially for a simple kit setup, it can be perfect. It's also a great way to get to know your mics. I'm running them all through the same UA pre, using @draliensmith dirt box at about 2.5 for a little grit. Long Post Alert: I started working on this @markgu Long Post Alert: I started working on this @markguiliana solo back in March. This is my final project for 2 year-long study with @stevelymandrums. I've never been challenged to this degree and I'm super proud of my work here. This has been an everyday task. It's not perfect. There are tons of clams. It's 20 bpm slower than when Mark played it, but damn. If I don't call this done, then I'm going to drive myself crazy. What have I learned? A) I'm not Mark. B) I can accomplish really difficult things when I put my mind to it. C) If I want to play at the level that Mark plays, I need to be super methodical about how I practice and super kind to myself in the process. What's next? Rest. Also, I want to teach and help others accomplish these sorts of goals. I want to play music and find my voice. I want to write music and collaborate with other musicians. I want to keep pushing past my own boundaries. Thanks to @deathkitten for listening to me play this over and over and putting up with my craziness. Thanks to @stevelymandrums for believing I could accomplish this transcription. Thanks to @jasonmolin for holding me accountable and talking me through some serious frustration, and thanks to my therapist for reminding me to just be. That's good enough. End of rant. Also, percussion hard panned left, and drums hard panned right? Pretty odd choice. Very beatlesque. Anyway, I'm not Thom Yorke, and my singing needs work.
