Drummer

Danny Piccuirro was born in High Bridge, New Jersey in 1985. Growing up in a musical family and having access to instruments created an environment for creativity and exploration. Self-taught at the age of 5, Danny would listen to his walkman and emulate his heroes, John Bonham, Ringo Starr & Danny Carey. As a late teenager, Danny studied Jazz Drums and Classical Percussion at the Febbraio School of Music in Westchester New York. After that, he earned his B.A. in Contemporary Writing and Production at Berklee College of Music. At Berklee, Danny studied with Kenwood Dennard, and Rick Considine.

After College, Danny relocated to Austin Texas beginning his career as a Freelance Drummer, Teacher, and Producer. During the last 10 years, Danny has worked with national and international artists such as Aaron Freeman (Gene Ween), Jim Eno (Spoon), Harmony Byrne, Warm Sugar, and The Bellesounds.

Danny’s teaching philosophy is centered around 3 principles: creativity, technique, and personal development. He has helped countless students discover their creative voice on the instrument and continues to hone his ability to communicate and teach in a way that is pointed and practical. He has worked with the local Austin non-profit Groundwork Music Project to create stage opportunities for underserved communities.

In 2020 Danny spearheaded “Drifting Pixels”, a collaborative experimental electronic music project featuring some of Austin’s best local talent. His first self-titled record saw airplay on KUTX and was featured on Atomic Records LXLW compilation. Danny continues to learn and refine his playing and teaching through interaction with social media and can be found teaching and giving masterclasses on www.dannypmusic.com.
